The University of Liverpool Zero Carbon Research Institute (ZCRI) is a research and consultancy group led by our director Dr Stephen Finnegan and supported by industry sponsored PhD researchers. Its goal is to assist in designing and implementing strategies to achieve the UK Governments plan for all buildings to be Net Zero Carbon (NZC) by 2050.
Our work involves the design of NZC strategies, the calculation of the “embodied” and “operational” carbon impact of products and buildings and the publication of our findings. Click on the menu in the top right to find out more.

Dr Stephen Finnegan has joined Dynamis Associates as a Non Executive Director. The company provides renewable energy technology and an innovative Energy as a Service (EaaS) platform to enable home owners to pay considerably less for their energy whilst helping to achieve Net Zero Carbon (NZC).
